To protect the health, welfare and safety of University of Minnesota students, employees and visitors in the built environment through education and code enforcement.
The BCD Permit System will be unavailable on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 7:00AM until 12:00PM, for a system update. Please do not plan to use the BCD Permit System during this period.
This upgrade will enable the University of MN Building Code Division to provide mobile access to Building Code Inspector personnel allowing them to complete your construction inspections while on the job site.
For our Customers, the benefits include:
1 - Immediate inspection result visibility (The inspection results
will be immediately communicated to the BCD
system and an e-mail of the results sent to you).
2 - Enhanced consistency and clarity in the inspection resulting
3 - Inspection records will be available to print immediately as
needed and will reflect the current inspection status.
4 - Inspection results (Status) will be immediately visible on your
User Account with the BCD when your permit is selected.
Once completed, the BCD inspectors will begin phasing in the mobile applications over the next few months.
Electrical work covered by permits issued after July 1, 2014, will be subject to the provisions of the 2014 NEC. Permits issued before July 1, 2014, where the electrical work begins on or after July 1, 2014, will be subject to the provisions of the 2014 NEC. Jobs where the electrical work was in progress and the permit was filed before July 1, 2014, will continue to be inspected to the 2011 NEC.
When applying for a permit please select the appropriate building or trade permit application for the type of work being performed. In order to complete the application you will need to know the project number, the University's Representative/Project Manager, and the construction valuation (contract value) for the project. If you do not have this information please contact your University Rep/PM.
