FUEL-GAS PIPING MATERIALS AND REQUIREMENTS:
  1. All material requirements shall be as defined in the mechanical and gas code.
  2. None of the piping shall be concealed nor left to lie on the ground.
  3. The final connection between the rigid fuel gas pipe and the appliance may be made using ONE reinforced flexible section of hose. The hose shall be designed for a working pressure of at least 250 psig. Design, construction, and performance of hose, and hose connections shall have their suitability determined by a listing from a nationally recognized testing agency. The hose length shall be as short as practicable, but in no case exceed 75 feet.
  4. There shall be an approved shutoff valve at both the start of the flexible hose and at the appliance.
  5. The rigid piping shall be hung in accordance with the mechanical and gas code.
  6. Flexible hosing shall be supported every 8 feet; if a strap or saddle is used it must be at least 5/8 inch in width
  7. All piping shall be air tested (rigid and flex) for at least 12 hours at a pressure of 25 psig, or 1.5 times maximum working line pressure, whichever is greater.
  8. No portion of the fuel gas piping shall be allowed to rest on the floor. All piping (rigid and flexible) shall be supported at lest 3 feet above the ground and properly marked with the words "GAS PIPING" in either yellow or red letters, every 25 feet maximum.

FUEL-GAS HEATERS:
  1. Heaters shall be equipped with an approved regulator in the supply line between the fuel cylinder and the heater unit.
  2. Cylinder connectors shall be provided with an excess flow valve to minimize the flow of gas in the event the fuel line becomes ruptured.
  3. No heater shall be converted from the fuel specified on the rating plate for use with a different fuel without securing re-approval from the Building Official and as recommended by the manufacturer of either the original equipment or the conversion equipment.
  4. Each heater shall meet a nationally recognized standard as evidences by the listing and label of an approved agency.
